Rental Terms and Conditions
1. Reservations & Payments
To block a specific vehicle, a reservation and an advance payment of 20% are required. If the booking is cancelled, the advance payment will be considered a cancellation fee.
The minimum rental age is 18 years.
Rentals to drivers under 21 years of age or with less than one year of driving experience are subject to prior approval, vehicle availability, and additional rental conditions. Where approved, a security deposit ranging from €1,000 to €1,500, depending on the selected vehicle category, may be required. We reserve the right to refuse any reservation or rental if, in its reasonable opinion, the driver's age, driving experience, intended vehicle category, or any other operational or safety consideration presents an unacceptable level of risk.
Acceptance of a reservation, quotation, or advance payment does not guarantee the delivery of a vehicle. All rentals remain subject to verification of the driver's identity, driving licence, driving experience, payment method, and compliance with our rental policies at the time of vehicle collection.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any reservation due to vehicle availability, operational requirements, or safety considerations.
New reservations are processed within the next 12 hours.
All reservations go through a verification check for availability. If the requested vehicle isn’t available, you will receive a proposal for the next similar model available.
Reservations are confirmed after the advance payment of 20%

The standard booking procedure is by email. You will receive two separate emails: one from 4and2WheelsRent with the rental confirmation and another from REDUNIQ (Portuguese Payment System) containing a link for the payment.
Reservations will be confirmed via email, phone call, or messaging app (e.g., WhatsApp).
2. Reservations & Payments
The minimum rental period is 24 Hours (1day).

Rental day: 24 hours cycles, starting from the scheduled pick up time of the vehicle.
Prices, rates and VAT are subject to change without previous notice.
An extension of the rental period can be made. 4and2WheelsRent must be contacted 24 hours before the rental period ends.

4. Insurance & Security Deposit
Security Deposit/Caution is applied to every vehicle rent. This will be the unique client responsibility in case of any damage (including rear-view mirrors and rims, tire punctures or sliced tires), otherwise the value is returned to the client at the end of the renting.
All vehicles have Third Party Liability Insurance.
Only cars have a “Full Insurance” (SCDW) option available.
All vehicles include the following protections with a deductible:
- CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)
- TP (Theft Protection)
- Acts of vandalism and natural disasters
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) Insurance
- Available for approximately €15 per day.
- Exempts the customer from paying the security deposit.
- Covers accident-related damages by an accident with another vehicle (Police report required).
- Includes mirrors & rims (must be reported ASAP for assessment).
- Exclusions:
- Interior damages not consequence from an impact with another vehicle
- Tire tears not consequence from an impact with another vehicle
- Tire Punctures
- Negligence (e.g., Wrong fuel)
- Vehicle misuse (e.g., Burned clutch)
- Eligibility:
- Minimum 25 years old.
- At least 3 years of driving experience
5. Exceptions
The client is responsible for any fines, usage of wrong fuel, violations and acts of negligence to the vehicle or third parties, mishandling or wrong driving.
Adding the wrong fuel is considered negligence. the repair costs are the customer's responsibility (Minimum repair cost 500€).
The client is responsible for any act due of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other narcotic substances.
6. Damage Reporting & Assistance
Any damage must be reported immediately (via phone call or WhatsApp).
Free road assistance is provided for vehicle malfunctions that is not the result of misuse.
All CARS have an extra tire or Repair KIT.
If you have a puncture or one sliced tire you are allowed to change for the spare one. (If you request assistance fees will be applied).
Roadside assistance is only available on normal/asphalt roads that can be accessed with a standard car or van. We strongly discourage the use of the vehicle for off-road driving. If you take the vehicle off-road, it will be your responsibility to return it to a normal road. In the event of an accident or malfunction while off-road that requires assistance, a third-party company with specialized vehicles will be required. The minimum assistance cost is €250, which is not deductible from the security deposit.
Tire punctures & slices are not covered by SCDW.
Drivers under the influence of alcohol/drugs or proven negligence are not covered by the free road assistance.
7. Vehicle Pickup & Delivery
Free pickup from our main store located in Funchal city center.
We have delivery available in all Madeira Island.
Delivery options:

- Caniço City (15€)
- Funchal Hotels (10€)
- All other location (25€)
No deliveries between 10:00 PM – 06:00 AM.
Delivery outside our office is subject to availability.
Out-of-hours fees can be applied for all bookings (Pick up or Drop off) outside normal operating hours.

8. Fuel Policy
Full to full.
9. Extras
Two additional drivers for your vehicle can be added to your rental contract for 10€/Each (subject to provision of relevant driver licence and age - restrictions).
Baby Seat is available for 3,5€ per day.
Child Booster is available for 3,5€ per day.
10. Driving Conditions in Madeira
Madeira has steep hills—avoid excessive clutch use to prevent burned clutches.
Customers are responsible for burned clutch repairs (up to 5% of the vehicle market value).
To avoid clutch issues:
- Minimize stop-start driving on hills.
- Turn off the air conditioning when driving uphill (reduces engine strain).
11. Regional Usage Fee – Rent-a-Car (Madeira)
In accordance with Regional Legislative Decree No. 7/2025/M, of 4 December, a Regional Usage Fee applies to rentals of vehicles without a driver carried out in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This fee amounts to €2 per vehicle per full rental day, up to a maximum of 10 days, and is mandatory by law.
The fee is charged to the customer by the rent-a-car operator and transferred to the competent regional authority (IMT, IP-RAM).
